Winter In Yellowstone National Park

The Lamar Valley is known for its scenic views and mass amounts of bison in the summer, but what about winter time?

When snow covers the park it brings a unique serenity only found in winter. Things move slower, the air is crisp, and everything is quiet. Immense crowds of summer have left with icy roads and snowbanks filling in the spaces where they stood all summer. Bison still roam their territories but in a calmer manner with only the task of surviving the harsh environment. Mountain peaks appear grander and more majestic with immense cliff faces contrasting the snow capped peaks and smooth fields of white. On your way up to Cooke we’d recommend waking up early to catch the sights of the cold winter sunrise.
